So Jim updated his site again with new pictures. Horrible lighting in these pictures, so I'm hoping the 6th week will have better. I'm still liking the darker ones a lot better.

Which one? All of them? lol. Keep in mind thats three different puppies. They may look it, but I'd bet they aren't. Genetically these guys should show extreme confidence.

I like the middle one... he's a cutie! i didn't know their ears went up so early? the bottom one doesn't even look like a shepherd, he looks kinda... odd... small ears or maybe it's just the angle... Kinda looks like some of the spitz dogs we have here where they have short little sticky uppy ears right away.

I can't decide if I like the looks of the first one or third one better.
I like the first one because he is so alert.
I like the third one because he is odd looking for a GSD.
The middle one looks timid to me.
But, I know nothing of the breed, and am only going by looks.

Yeah, pictures don't tell much. I've seen pictures of very confident outgoing dogs that would have made them look like a nervous wreck....the third one will look more and more like a GSD as time goes on. He is just a lighter sable....looks like a Shepherd to me, but I've seen anything from light sables, red sables, black sables, bi colored, black and tans, ect ect. Next week I should get more pictures....and later on in that week or the 7th week I should be getting video clips of each of them.......which is how I will determine which one I want.
And Mandypug sometimes their ears go up this early..I've seen GSDs with them completely up as early as 5 weeks.....some not till 6 or 7 months. It just varies.

Yeah, i figured such... i just remember that your last one was having issues getting his ears to stay up even after he was getting up there in months.

I still like the lightest one there the best. They're all extremely handsome pups though, it'll be so neat when you get video clips of them. :)

Yeah, the video clips will just be showing them chasing the ball on a string, or the bite rag, or just other various things....which is basically showing their drives. He'll do temperament tests, and go in depth on what each one of them is like.

How fast time goes by. It seems only yesterday, we saw them as small black blobs.
They're looking very nice. I bet you can hardly wait!

Oh how it does fly. I was just thinking that thought before I got on the computer a couple of minutes ago. I do look forward to them being here....and quickly, but I do wish time would slow down lol.

Jim sent me this morning about the pups.....lets keep in mind this is just at 5 weeks.
Just a quick note. Both males that you identified have noticeable prey drives, using their noses instictively to search and diggout mole holes around my house. Both, as all of them do righ tnow, respond to anything as a play toy and immediately pounce and hold down. All good indicators for potential for work/ protection. I have done a preliminary temperment test on all of them. These two males struggle, as they should initially, when they are held down on their backs and then realx (submitt) after a few moments of struggle. This is a good indicator of their temperment as it applies to the pack structure. A pup that does not realx after struggling may have "dominence" issues later in life. The prefered reaction is the one I described occuring refering to the two males you identified.
A side note. I realize that the darker males are slight more disired, in color, by most people who write or call in. However, the thrid male, we call Chivo, has a great affect as well slightly more outgoing and is slighty more observant then the other 2 darker males. Not to detract from the others but if your looking to have a good idea of who would be the pick of the litter I felt I must mention this so as to give you my overall prespective on all the males and their position in the litter concerning their temperment. I feel all would have great potential in sport, SAR, and Police work.
I am exposing them to different surfaces, taking out for daily "field trips", and have already begun feeding soft food with meat. I use Castor & Pullux "Organix" dog food. Its pricy, but a great source of organic food. No preservitives! This is the puppy food I use http://www.castorpolluxpet.com/store/organix/organix_puppy_formula
and would receommend using any of their products (treats, soft food etc).http://www.castorpolluxpet.com/store/things_we_eat.
Ill get the videos out this week, probably on Friday or Saturday.

Husky, look at the light sable's face. It's gorgeous!
Me, I would go with the most outgoing, explortory, observant, and resilant pup. It seems to be shaping up to be the light sable.
I was only joking earlier, but it seems my joke had truth in it. Go for what's inside the pup, not what's outside.

I agree, he has a very nice looking face. And who knows....he could end up dark in the future anyhow. As of right now I will be considering him the most. I will however wait to make my final decision on the 7th week.

I went back and looked at Dragos pictures from when he was .....I think 15 weeks? He was very light....and before that at around 10 weeks he was also very light. I'll put them on there.

I forgot to mention, Jims going to hopefully get good pictures from the front of each puppy for me today so I'll be updating once again with more pictures. That way I can see their faces better. He'll also be doing more temperament tests at 7 weeks old since they can change a lot in 2 weeks. Then I'll make my decision.

Jim sent me a ton of video clips of each pup...which arrived in the mail today on a dvd he made...so they won't be posted on here as planned.....but.....I honestly think I like one of the darker sable males better....the one that had one ear up in the picture. Hes showing good drive, confidence, and also independence.....I want a dog who is independent. Some people that drives them crazy....Drago was very independent and I loved that about him. He is also sniffing the ground a lot where the mole is....they set a mole trap, and theres a mole in the ground....the pup was sniffing for it like crazy. They put the food dish on top of the lawn mower after they are done, and every time this pup goes back for it. And of course there was more, but I'm really leaning towards him the most. Pictures are coming soon, tomorrow they turn 6 weeks so he's posting new ones then....His ears should be up in the pic too. I think he'll also be sending me more vids towards the end of next week, but yeah I'm leaning towards that little guy now....or big guy, these pups are BIG lol.
