Princess is not doing well. When I came home last night from work, I noticed she was in the litter box a lot. At first this does not seem odd for her, since we have a big litter box with a cover on it, and at times she likes to just sit in it. But I just had a feeling something was wrong. She is eating and playing, but going to the litter box constantly.

When my husband was cleaning the box last night, she went into it about 4 times, 3 times she just crouched down for a while then got out, one time she had a bowl movement, it was a little mushy but still pretty solid. I called my sister who is a vet tech, she said it was classic signs of a urinary track infection, and she should be ok over night.

Normally I would have rushed her to the vet last night, but the only emergency vet in this area is horrible and I would never bring her back there again unless her life depended on it, and even then I would be apprehensive about it.

I called our vet this morning and they want us to drop her off for a urine sample. My husband is going to get her to them. My sister did a good job of calming me down last night, but I am still worried and a nervous wreck, and feeling horrible I did not bring her to the vet last night

NiteRose, don't feel bad. You are a good mom! With males, you need to rush, but females have a shorter and straighter urethra, so they are not prone to blockages. Your baby girl will be fine! Keep us posted on how she's doing. You are a terrific kitty mom!

macassie, that is what my sister told me. She said even though it is possible, but very rare for females to block, she has yet to see 1 blocked female.

She is at the vet now, and I wish I could have been with him to bring her in(stupid job), he said she was making a fuss, poor thing.

Thanks for the kind words macassie

She does have a bladder infection. She was soooo not happy at the vet offices! Me and my husband heard her out in the waiting room meowing up a storm when the tech was getting her from the cage. That night it was a bit rough, think she was half giving us the cold shoulder half out of it from her infection.

She has been laying as close to the litter box as she can, so we made a little bed for her at a comfortable distance from the litter box, with her sleeping bag and a pillow from the couch. She has been laying on it, glad we could give her that comfort.

Last night she seemed to be feeling a bit better, since she was moving around a bit more, and she came into bed with me later at night and gave me my face cleaning and did her normal using my head as a bed/pillow. I missed her the past couple nights(since it is has become her ritual to come in a little after I get into bed and clean my face for a little, kneed my hair then pass out) and was so happy when she came in last night, even thought it was some crazy time in the middle of the night.

I figured not to expect her back in bed anytime soon, so it must be a good sign that she went that far away from the box.

The vet wants another urine sample when she is done with her meds, I think I am going to try and collect that myself, so she does not have to go and stay at the office again.

She is doing so much better! She is no longer in and out of the litter box. I almost forgot how much fun it is to give cats pills  She still has about 1 more week on meds, fun fun fun!

She has been sneezing a lot for the past few days, and very snoty, but full of energy. I am hoping that it is just allergies, since she seems to get them now and then, and that she did not pick up a cold at the vets office! So she is on sick kitty watch
