hi, i volunteer at a rescue ranch, and practically all the dogs there are perfect sweeties. there are some shy ones, but only a few that we arent able to walk. Most of them seem really hyper and all that, or mean maybe.
But who wouldnt be hyper after staying in a kennel 24-7? There was this one Rott Weiler that jumped up and down in his cage barking at us with what seemed like a mean bark, but i asked about him and they said he was a great dog and so i got him out and he was perfectly polite and freindly. Another one, who i had heard was really hyper and would yank my arm off was a really nice little dog, sure she wanted to run, but she didnt pull my arm off, instead i just ran with her, and she didnt tug on the line once. They are probably the best dogs anyone could have, most are really friendly, but no one notices them because of puppies that are adopted before them.
One dog i know of is really friendly, wont pull on leash, perfect really except he doesnt like cats. And hes ten. Some dogs are in there their whole lives, which is sad i think.

My family only adopts from shelters(unless we find a dog on the street) I think they are all such great dogs and I was over joyed when I went to a shelter to pick up our new dog an there where at least 20 other people there adopting(mostly older dogs!)!! to bad there was a line of about 10 people getting rid of there pets :(
shelter dogs are great!!
