Here's Blobs in his Summer coat. I'll have to get a pic of him up with his winter one to show the difference, he goes all dark over christmas and grows a white moustache! He's so adorable, I love the snot out of him!!!! :D (Just to clarify, that is an expression; I actually greatly detest mucous or phlegm of any kind! :p)

Thanks very much for your kind comments, you guys. He's such a cutie-pie.
Please excuse the terrible quality of this next pic, but it shows his winter 'tache. :D Also makes him look like he has no eyes! Caught him blinking!
He is an eleven year old 16.3h.h Hackney X Gypsy Cob.

He looks like he's about to sneeze, dunt he? Awww.
That's funny! I have never seen a horse get a color change on its face like that. He sure has a kind eye.

Remember when you said you weren't gonna kill him just to live with me, unless he bit someone? :p
I also recall you inviting me round for drinks... Last year! When's that gonna happen??

I don't remember ever offering drinks.... Are you sure you're not confusing me with some other person with a psychotic hell-hound?
Hey, I'm really happy with Aubrey at the moment, because for the first time in the five years I've had him he's been partitioned off from the mare he lives with when they're inside in their yard, and I now know that he is SO clean. I always thought he was a right dirty tramp, but it was the mare all along! He poops around the edges and keeps his bed clean (reasonably clean anyway.)
I'm so proud. :p

You did, I still even have the text to prove it, I knew it'd never happen and I might need proof!! Gee I'm sad :(

Thank you so much, I am proud, he's my star, I love him so much. I don't know how people just buy and sell their horses like cars, like replaceable, meaningless nothings. For such STUPID reasons!
I could never replace my blobs, he is one in a million. I'm not exactly rolling in money, so if my circumstances were to change and I could no longer keep him rent-free I would work extra jobs to afford to keep him, I would not just pass him on, there is absolutely no excuse for that in my opinion.
People get horses and sell them when they become inconvenient to them, HOW they can send them off to auction/dealers/knacker's yard I will NEVER know!!!
Even if Aubrey suddenly became the ugliest horse in existence, developed a severe attitude problem, or needed daily medication - whatever - I could never ever part with him!
I'm sorry to bang on, but I've been hearing some awful stories lately of people with their horses and it just confuses me so much. What do horses do to deserve such blasé, unfeeling treatment? :(

I think that is British for gnats.
I just love the expression this horse has every time you post a pic. I am going to the barn to ride this afternoon, maybe I will remember to take the camera & get some shots of my horse.

oh man...i HATE gnats....my first experience with them was when i was 17 doing community service repairing homes in John's Island, SC. HORRIBLE...I don't know how i did not fall of those roofs while swatting them away. I got bit sooo many times I ended up with so many little bumsp on my arms...and no one else around me got bit so much.
I should start charging people for being their bug repellent. I am ALWAYS the one who gets bit. especially w/ mosquitoes.

He has the kindest eyes Heather....I love his face. His stall is huge!!! Can't wait to see how he sheds out his winter coat. Freshly shedded horses look so nice!

Lol. Eurgh, I feel for you. I always get attacked by mozzies and those great fat horse-fly things, they've got the giant bitey heads and make me swell like crazy. Can't stand 'em!
Poor Aubrey suffers really badly from sweet-itch. If the midges are back already I'm going to have to take his fly-buster with me tomorrow. (That's a thin rug with a neck and belly cover to keep the flies off of him.) This SUCKS!! His mane and tail have only just started to grow back. See that little fringe that's starting to grow on his lovely head? It'll be gone before I know it if I'm not careful.
Poor Blobs. :(

Oh, sorry, it's because sweet-itch is kinda like a really bad allergic reaction to the saliva in fly bites, and makes him itch so badly that he rubs himself until he bleeds. His mane and tail get rubbed off, and he gets scabs all over where he's been scratching, it's horrible.
LOL, if you riding him would keep the flies off of him, I'd invite you around any day! :D

I wonder if Vitamin B would help a horse with those little midges (called may flies here). It works for people!

That's an interesting idea... thanks, special.
So far so good this year, but it is only March... The flies are going to be real bad though, I can tell, there's already swarms of them lurking and, as I said, it's only March! Eek!

The vitamin B trick is a life saver for me. I am very outdoorsy but those little gnats plague me to death, and leave huge welts on me, as I am allergic to them.
The Vit B has to be taken about every four hours when outside, and with food, or it goes right through. You could ask the horse vet if it would be feasible.
The B doesn't help with deer flies or mosquitoes though.

I love my big guy.

He got in a mood today coz it was so windy. (He can't stand being left out in the wind. Or the snow. Or the rain. Or the sun... He's just like me, actually.) Anyway, I led him out of the paddock and he bolted, I couldn't stop him. I was too tired to argue. He ran into the boss's front garden, snapped a branch off her tree, which frightened poor Flower to death! He went back on track to wait for me to catch up. When I took his lead-rope he started dragging me back to his stable like such a pig. He can be so obnoxious when he's feeling that way out.
But once he was back inside he was back to his placid self again. What a weirdo.
