The Battle at Liendo Plantation

All the pictures are one's that I have taken, and there are TONS.

Charles and I went to a Civil War Reenactment today, it was AWESOME. Man...I recommend this kind of stuff to anyone! But, if you've got sensitive ears, you'd better get ear plugs because those cannons are deafening. Next year, we're hoping to dress up...the dresses are my favorite part!

Anywho...I was having SERIOUS camera problems, I really need a new one...I think mine is about to eat it. So...the pictures are horrible quality...

The house was built in 1853. It was beautiful...16 rooms full of original furniture. It was...well, amazing.

This thing was cool, it caught the rain water and held it. There was a small well on the other side that pulled the water up from this big container...(don't mind the girl using a water hose)...

I have to say, the cannons were my second favorite part. The ground literally shook and your ear drums went numb after each blast. They produced soooo much smoke too...just like the movies!

Of course, there were no real bullets...or ammo...but, anytime they shot a cannon...a big smoke ring whirled into the sky...they were pretty cool. I was happy I captured one...

Some of the horses weren't used to the noises, one person was bucked off...but, most of the horses were used to this...their owners do this for a living...so, some actually seemed to have fun.

It was all fun and games until someone got hurt...

They shut down the entire reenactment, rushed out some doctors...and then called the ambulance.

Apparently, the actor stepped in a hole or stepped funny and broke his ankle...the whole thing was shut down for about an hour because they weren't sure if they could move him or not.

There was a girl standing behind Charles and I, and she asked her mother if 'the guys in red pants were the Russians'...and a group of adults behind them started laughing and making fun of her asking 'what war she was in'...a bunch of morons, really. At least the girl knew what she was talking about...the adults sure didn't.

It was at the Liendo Plantation (http://www.liendo.org/plantation.html) (Near Hempstead, Texas). From what I understand, everything was exactly how it was during the war...I believe that the Union won this time. Though, I am not certain.
