Cat has Diet Problems...I think

My roomate brought home a cat that belonged to a friend about 1 week ago. She is about a year old. Recently, the last two days she has been vomiting in the late evening. Even just water. Is there anything we can do before taking her to the vet that may help. We are college students and dont have a lot of money.

Do you know any thing about her medical history? Are you giving her the same food she was eating? Do you have plants, some are toxic to animals? It could be alot of things, I don't know. Is there anything else you could tell us?

Is she eating and using her litter box? You need to watch her closely to rule out the possibility of an intestinal blockage which can be fatal if not attended to.
