I'm Danni and i have a quick question on rat breeding. My rat is a year old by now, her name is Oreo, and she is a female. I know how rats can breed, But u know how with dogs u take them some were and wait till they, u know. Well with rats can u do the same thing. Like i wanted to know if i could pay a pet shop owner to try and breed there male rats with my rat. How long with it take for them to mate, and will they attack each other?? I wanted to know if they will bond, or do they have to spend months with each other????

Please, you can't just randomly take your female rat to a pet shop and ask if you can shove her in with a random male and let them at it. It wouldn't be fair to your rat at all, not to mention you don't know what kind of health problems could come out of it in the offspring if the mating was successful.

Even people who do know what they're doing shouldn't be breeding just for the sake of it. It isn't a kind thing to do.

If you want more rats, how about rescuing some of the poor things that already exist in the world and are desperately crying out for a loving home, rather than bringing more of the poor buggers into it??

People who breed animals just because they fancy seeing what the babies would look like make me so unhappy. Please reconsider this. :(

:D Thanks for being a good person. (Not that people who breed animals are necessarily bad people... They just aren't doing the right thing by the animals in my opinion.)
