Not that Diane's is out of date or 'old school'...here is a quick tutorial on how to add photos to your posts. I've included images, because I know that many of you may be like me and get lost in words and can learn faster with pictures.
First, you'll need to click on a particular sub-forum...you can post images in ANY of the sub-forums, contrary to some belief.
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd182/tdyannd/Randoms/One.png
Then, you need to scroll all the way to the very bottom of the screen. You will see something like this.
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd182/tdyannd/Randoms/Two.png
This little box tells you what type of 'codes' are allowed in the particular sub-forum you are in. In our little box shown, it says that the [IMG] code is on, and the HTML code is off. That means, we can post the [IMG] code and our image will appear, but posting the HTML code will not allow the image to appear.
In instances where the [IMG] code is off, you can post the direct link to the image and users can click the link and your image will appear in a separate window, usually.

Once you have uploaded your image to a Photo Hosting site (I use Photobucket), you should see something like this near/underneath your image. This is a set of codes that you can use to share your image. You will see a Direct Link, , and HTML Code.
So, since the HTML Code isn't allowed in the sub-forum I selected, let's post the Direct Link and [IMG] code. Here's what you would see in your post:
[IMG]http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd182/tdyannd/Randoms/Four.png
The top link, is the Direct Link. Users can click on it, and they will be able to view your image that way. This is important to use if your image is especially large. If your image is normal size, and the [IMG] code is on, you can post the [IMG] code and the picture will appear as you can see in the picture above.
I hope this helps some of you guys! If not, feel free to post...someone can always help!

Thanks Tiff. I usually upload directly from my harddrive, but that severly limits size and resolution. I just got a photobucket account, so will try these methods you've taught us.

:D
You're both welcome. I never use the 'attachment' thingy, just because...well, I don't guess I understand it and Photobucket is just soooo much easier for me.

Hey, I have to give Tiffers a big pat on the back for this thread. It got me trying a new method of photo posting, and it worked!
Thanks Tiff.

LOL
You're welcome, Becky. I know it says basically the same thing that Diane's thread says, but I know if any of you are like me...pictures sure make the whole concept a whole lot easier. :D

Lilly, follow these instructions. You should be able to use the [IMG] code and have the image appear...? I may be wrong...but, I think it's the [IMG] code.

The attachment thingy allows images (not just links) in any forum, even when IMG code is off. That's why I use it so often. It also saves me from having to upload everything to photobucket. I do have to resize though, which may give some folk problems.
The main thing I like about using photobucket is that I can post larger photos, and more than 3 to a post. With the attachment thingy I'm only allowed 3 to a post.

The way to attach an image is found when you click the button 'Go Advanced' on the quick reply box.
Another box will open with numerous symbols and buttons. On the top row, next to the smilie, will be a paperclip. Click that to get your 'attachment' box. A floating window will appear where you're able to upload directly from your harddrive. There are size limits. Jpegs must be:
525 pixels wide or less
400 pixels high or less
and 50 kbs or under
I use a photo editing program to resize my photos to fit the size limits.

You have to be a supporting member to get an actual visual picture in your signature, but if you just want a link to a picture, (like what I have in mine) you should follow Tiffers' signature tutorial, which is a sticky in the pet central cafe. That'll get it done. :)

Picasa by Google is also a handy pic share utility.
