I just discovered it about a day ago...and today I wanted to see if I could essentially remove it. I did a bit but then it started to bleed, so I stopped. She is fifteen years old. She is partially blind and deaf...is it something serious? I don't want to stress her by going to the vets.

It's about the size of a grape and on the outside of her skin.

Thank you.

...do you have a picture?

At 15, it is likely to be an old age wart. It could potentially be a Mast Cell Tumor, in which the more you mess with it, the bigger it will get.

How fast did this appear? Is it oozing at all? What breed of dog?

It may or may not be something to worry about the only way to know is to take her to the vet and have it aspirated and or biopsied.

I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

I hope it is nothing major.

You may want to call around and see if there is a vet in your area that does house calls

Welcome to Petlovers! I would encourage you to call a vet and have her seen. I'm sure that it would stress her, but better to err on the side of caution, right?
