He doesnt seem affected by it at all but now theres a swolen bump under his eyeball where his other eye is smooth and flat.
Here's a picture. This is about a half hour later. http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq119/lesscrappy/dog.jpg
Do I need to worry about this?

I would put some ice on it. If you don't have ice, a bag of frozen veggies will work just as well.

It looks like a black eye, like people get. It should be okay, but watch your dog for pain or symptoms of a concussion. In people, concussion symptoms include nausea, extreme drowsiness, one pupil lager than the other. I'm not sure what the symptoms are for dogs - they may be the same. I'm sure one of the vet techs who visit this site will give you more concrete advice.

I'm sorry he got hurt. I hope the ice works.

I hate to say it, but eyes need to be checked when injured. Dogs have multiple lids and can aquire infections/damage easily.

I'm not good at photos... is it the bump under the eye, on the fur? Or is the red tissue within his eye a result of the table accident as well? If the tissues/lids are abnormal, I'd see the vet.

Hope all is fine...let us know how he's doing.

The bump is under the eye. Theres like a small sliver of swollen skin under the bottom lid. He doesnt seem to be too affected by it so ill probably wait till the morning to bring him to a vet if it doesnt go away.

how is he now? did you go see the vet? i'd love to know how things turned out.

bobby and tiger tend to run into things at times too. nothing as serious as your dog, though. but i'm worried one day they might.

Just wanted to give a quick reply of Eddie the dogs' status. Brought him to the vet first thing in the morning and everything turned out okay. Gave me cream and some pills to give him and the swelling has reduced dramatically. Turned out though the vet noticed a small bald spot eddie had been working on and when looking at it further he had these nasty bacteria bumps that was the cause of most of his itching. So i guess that was good as they went away after using the shampoo he gave us and eddie seems a lot happier not constantly itching his back on the floor. $400 vet bill later i couldve just bought another beagle :) JK!!

I have a question about your puppy's skin issue!!!

the "bacteria" bumps that were under his skin, did he say EXACTLY what they were? I am just curious because you said that he was itching his back, and cappy always wiggles around on his back on the carpet like he is trying to itch something.. i would love to know what it was so i can look into it more..
