Oscar The Grouch

Awhile back I posted a story about Oscar my little tiel. To go back on the story a little bit: Oscar is about two years old. In May, he and his mate Katie had five little eggs. They turned out beautiful. They are a perfect mixture of Oscar and Katie. Well he was a wonderful dad. He sat on the egss and fed the babie. He was totally protective of his kids. Then one day he changed. He started pecking on the babied and pulling out their feathers. The babies were in trauma. I took him out of the cage and put him in his own cage. This was back in July. I know he misses Katie alot. I put him near Katie so he can see and talk to her. Katie is in the cage with the five babies After I pulled Oscar out she did all the feeding by herself.
A few weeks agp I took all the birds to have their wings clipped. When I put him in the carrier with Katie, he started fighting with her really bad. I had to put him in his own carrier. After I got them home I put Oscar back in his cage and he started calling Katie again. I don't know what his problem is. Anybody have any ideas?

Well, I'm not sure but sometimes one or the other will get jealous of the babies and that is what happens. It seems to me he is just being ornery and best keep them apart as long as he is aggressive to her. Are you putting him back in his old cage with her or are you adding her to the new cage with him? That might make a difference. That is not much help but all I can think of. How is it going now?

I was first putting Oscar in the cage with Katie and the babies. Then I put Katie in Oscar's cage. He wasn't happy and either was Katie. I guess Oscar just likes being in his own cage by himself now. Katie loves her babies and they love her so I wouldn't take her away from them anyway. Now they just talk to each other from their cages and everything seems to be peacful.
