MIX EVEN AMOUNTS OF:

2 cups crushed cereal....(cheerios or shreeded wheat)
2 cups crushed pellets or instant oatmeal cereal
2 cups assorted hulled seeds

Add approx. 1-1/4 cups of honey

Stir until mixture is wet but not dripping. You may need to adjust the honey (or use corn syrup if you like)

Pour onto a cookie sheet and spread it out.

Bake at very low temp....200-225...for approx. 45 minutes

Score them halfway through baking time to make it easier to cut when done.

You can also shape these around craft sticks, before baking, with a hole drilled at end of stick to hang in cage.

Note: I found this recipe on the net and I tried it last night.....they are easy and my birds enjoyed them this morning.

I have a recipe for nutriberries. I'll post it under another thread. I haven't tried it though.

P.S. the price of commercial nutriberries is outrageous but my birds love them and I shell out the money. I hope they will love the cloned recipe I will try to make for them.

Good luck.

Casegura,

What do you feed your birds that the only seed they get is from nutriberries?

Our birds are given seed in morning before I go off to work - but they eat what we eat for dinner. It seems like they hardly touch the seed now and wait for dinner. However, I would like for them to eat something during the day.

Mrs. Birdy - I was looking back over these old threads to find different recipes - where do you find "hulled seeds" - sorry if that is a stupid ? - but I need to know in order to make these and it sounds sooooo simple.

Has anyone tried this one? I was wondering what the texture was suppose to be when done. Chewy maybe? :)
