Sunday afternoon was our annual bird club picnic which was a ton of fun! It had a pirate theme and everyone was invited to dress up if we desired - not mandatory. Some did to the hilt! There was also pirate decor and games with pirate theme. Hey, be sure and check out the T-shirt Jason has on.

Jason with his B&G and another member with his Amazon:

a pirate added to the group:

A pirate couple who didn't bring any birds this year:

This next lady had her GCC, Little Cricket, and her sun conure, Fruit Loops, on her shoulder or on the back of her chair the entire time we were there! They were just adorable as was her blouse which didn't look as nice on the back as the day wore on. LOL

These two birds were the cutest guys and they were best of friends.

There were others with costumes, but my camera only takes a few pictures and has no more memory. I will post the bird club website address a little later so anyone who wishes can go there to view more pictures.

That looks so fun. You could do this again on International Talk Like a Parrot Day this fall.

So folks bring their birds and just let them fly free? Or are they tethered? Don't you worry about the birds interacting with each other?

ETA: GCC? I am sorry. I am new to birds and still don't know what the different ones are.

Great idea, I'll have to suggest that at the next meeting!

Well all the birds there had wing clips, which is supposed to prevent flying and will only allow them to get a small lift and glide to the ground. However, I was worried about the smaller birds as it doesn't take much and if they catch the right air current it is possible for them to go pretty far. However, everything went ok Sunday.

Oh, I am sorry too, I keep forgeting that not everyone is familiar with birds. A GCC = Green Cheek Conure and if you look at the second post you'll see a tiny green bird sitting in the ladies hair. That is the Green Cheek named Little Cricket.

So the one on her lap is the sun conure. That is a really pretty bird.

My friend has one but I never get to see it because it screeches at everybody but her. She really wanted a love bird or a lady gouldian finch. But her b-friend got the sun conure instead. She has had it a long time. She is the one who took the new cage that I got that I didn't use before I got this 2nd new cage.

So, ya'll had a (captain jack) Sparrow in there with all the exotic birds? lol
Looks like a fun day, and when I read the thread title I realized that this is where I came in a year ago! Where did this year go?
