I just received in for foster today what we believe to be a torti point himalayn. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :) The first picture is of her and the second is of an interesting leg wound. I will tell you that is bone you see. She'll be heading to the vet tomorrow to have it looked at. She and another himalayn were dumped/left behind when a couple divorced and sold their house. They took they dogs and threw the cats outside. The took up residence with the next door neighbor's colony of feral barn cats. He felt really bad for them and called us. She's about 3-5 years old, only weighs 5lbs (hair & bone). She's extremely dehydrated, our intake coordinator gave her 80 ccs of fluid this afternoon and I gave her another 80 about an hour ago (sub-q). It's already completely absorbed. Will be giving her probably another 80 in the morning.

She is a beautiful cat, a little hairy for my taste but i love her face.
That leg wound looks like it hurts.
My opinion, it looks like an animal tried to grab her, and she swatted at it and it caught the leg a bit.

You can give her more than 80cc's. We usually do 200 or more for badly dehydrated kitties. That is an interesting wound, though. She's cute, and I wouldn't say 'torti'. Torti's are usually black as tar and have a few orange/white spots on them. She's real cute though, for sure.

My husband said it looks almost like she had been skinned by something. It really freaked me out when I first realized what I was looking at.

Yeah it does. Maybe a dogs got ahold of her paw and got a tooth caught on it and it pulled it back.
I dunno, well at least she is in a safe place.

Is that 200 total for a day? We break it down into smaller amounts several times a day because we draw it from the bag and give it with a 60 cc syringe. We currently do not have any lines to run a bag and while many of us can give sub-q, we're not real good on keeping the needle in for longer periods. She's had a total of 160 today.

Pretty girl, but an ugly wound. It does kind of look like a bite, or maybe she got it caught it something? I'm glad the neighbors got the poor things to a rescue since the owners didn't bother.
What is her temperment like? She at least lets ya'll handle her, that's a good start...

...you can figure her daily maintenance. Weight(lbs) x 24(hours of the day) divided by 30(mLs). So, it'd be once a day... I thought you were only doing it once. :D

She is beautiful! What a pretty face and those eyes. How could they just throw her out the back door? (OK I vented and deleted......Grrrrrr - it just makes me so mad!) She doesn't look like she is too feral as you look to be handling her ok. You said there were two thrown out - what happened to the other? Bless you for caring for her.

She's a bit more perky this morning, talked to me all the way to the vet's office. They are going to look at the wound and see what they can do (or what needs to be done). She's actually very tame, I think very happy to be indoors. She's eating canned food really well and is urinating out all of her fluids. I gave her 40ml's this morning and it was gone in less than an hour. Will probably give her another round this evening. Her sibling (not sure if male or female) is still in the barn, very skittish. The gentleman who lives there is going to try to work with that one and see if he can get him/her to come out for us to pick up. From what we understand, that one is orange in color. Basically, the people who owned them divorced, sold the house, took the dogs and dumped the cats outside. I can't believe they did it either, these cats are not made to survive outside in a feral colony. I'm hoping we can get her sibling soon.

The vet has decided to leave the area as is. He gave her an injection of the new 7 day antibiotic and wants me to keep in clean and keep neosporin on it. I hope she doesn't tear it open on anything in the house.

Ugh, that's how we started with Angel. I eventually switched litters to Fresh Results, made of ground corncob and pine, as it is supposed to not irritate wounds. If there is a way to, you might try blocking off small spaces like under the fridge, etc. where she might try to use the paw to fish a toy out with. I'm pretty sure that's what is keeping Angel from healing, she thinks the darn leg is a broom!
Did the vet have any theories on how she might have injured it?

The vet was too busy trying to talk me into getting a bunch of bloodwork done to tell me much of anything. She's underweight and I tried to explain that the circumstances she came from would have caused it but he was all about bloodwork. Our best guess at this point is that she caught it on something. He did say he wasn't concerned about the bone itself which makes me feel better.

She is precious. I love the indignant expression on her face in that pic! Poor kitty I hope she heals soon. I don't have any good guesses as to what caused that wound. At first I thought it was on her neck until I read a comment and looked harder and could see that was actually her paw leg on display. :P
