Well our Golden Retriever, Amber, mostly gets brushed and hasn't had many baths over the years. She fights us tooth and nail over nail trimming as she absolutely hates having anyone touch her paws - so since it is such a fight we tend to be rather negligent in nail clipping.
Our son, Jason, is dating a very nice girl named Vicki who is in the pet grooming business. So on Tuesday Jason took Amber to Vicki's shop and together they gave Amber the "Spa" treatment is what I call it. They bathed her, dried her, groomed her. I am going to post before and after pics and be sure and notice the difference in those paws! LOL

Thank you Vicki & Jason for Amber's big day! She looks, smells and feels beautiful now. Hugs to you both!
Beautiful dog! Bet she is a love sponge.......
Shadow also does not much care for nail trimming. She does not mind the sanding sponge we use to get the rough edges, but it is hard to maintain the correct length that way.

Thanks Evey & Tiffers. Oh good grief I can't believe I ever posted that first picture with her leash like that -- well at least in yesterday's pics everyone can see that big knot was taken out of it. LOL

Thanks so much Kate, Ree & Anne - we think she enjoyed it and seems very happy. The kids said she even cooperated when they did her paws which I was very surprised. Maybe she even realized those nails needed a trim!

She's a beautiful dog!
I like how dogs' colors change after a bath... Chico gets a whole lot lighter.

LOL Vicki. The first picture was just a "before" picture to show how Amber looked prior to the grooming and was taken in the winter. We are sweating here too - here in Northern New Jersey. :) In fact we had been invited to go to an outdoor concert this evening but skipped it due to the heat.

I do believe dogs know when they're looking good. And like it.
Amber looks so soft and fluffy, just want to give her a hug.
I remember the first time you posted that first photo, I asked you what kind of leash that was! lol.
I also noticed her color change, I don't think it's the bath though, rather summer verses winter coat.
She does look lovely.

Now that Amber is looking better and I see her seeming to feel better I'm inclined to agree with you there Becky.
Amber looks so soft and fluffy, just want to give her a hug.
I've been giving her big hugs ever since she was a puppy and she tolerates them just barely.
I remember the first time you posted that first photo, I asked you what kind of leash that was! lol.
The next day I had hubby untangle the leash and we took the leash off the tie out rope. Leash was actually plenty long enough by itself. :)
I also noticed her color change, I don't think it's the bath though, rather summer verses winter coat.
I think so too. Amazing the difference in color though. This winter I'll take another picture and compare to see if her coat gets darker in winter.
She does look lovely.
Thanks Becky.

I spent yesterday afternoon bathing our three, and David immediately picked Cookie up and gave her belly scrubs in his lap! He only does that when they are newly bathed! She knows it too, cause that's the only time she'll go to his chair to be picked up!
