That's a good question. I've heard of budgies and cockatiels that talk ... but I can't remember hearing about a lovebird that talks.
I have a lovebird but doesn't talk ... Sorry, I couldn't be of help. :(

I think they can learn but it is hard to teach them. They a re pisticines and all parrots have the ability to talk.

I once asked in a pet store about lovebirds talking ability and the person said they talk....but then again I think they would say that about all the birds in order to sell them.
Interesting topic....let's do some research.

Yes lovebirds can talk. I met someone in a pet store at a mall in Paramus. She had a lovebird with her. That bird said about 10 different words and was fairly clear as well.

Does anyone like "the little rascals". I though if I had room for more birds, I would name them Alfalfa, Spanky, Darla, and Buckwheat.
lol.

Lovebirds generally don't talk, though of course there's always exceptions and a few will learn to say some things. They all have the ability, but just aren't usually as interested in human speech as other birds are. I think alot depends on how much time they spend around and with people, and how much they were talked to as babies. I would guess that if the lady was taking her lovebird with her to the mall, she spends alot of time with it!

My lovebird Perk attempted to make clucking noises that I always do for her. I think she really likes the sound. Whenever I cluck, her head perks up and she listens intently so naturally I keep clucking for her. She has me well trained. Who knows what sound she'll have me doing next for her?!
