I've had both of my goldfish for well over a year (and one of them for well over 2 yeas) but I still don't know if they're boys or girls. Luckily they have unisex nams, but not knowing is kind of annoying. How can you tell? I can't find out anywhere.

I was always told it's by the shape of their body. Some are longer than short and stubby. I have three...two are short and stubby and one is long. Don't know which is which though, but that's how I was told.

all goldfish can be sexed by the males have breeding dots on their heads and gill plates. little white dots like pimples.

females lack this. they dont usually show signs until the breeding seeasons which is in the spring time after ponds thaw.

females are generally fatter but that isnt the most effective way of sexing them.
