Pregnancy question

My GSD meike is due on June 1st.....well, I'm just wondering something. She really isn't showing very much as far as her size, she looks a little bit bulkier, but I can't tell, and her teets are showing some, but I thought they were suppose to be a lot lower than they are. They haven't really dropped much at all, and thats part of the reason I'm not sure if her pregnancy even took. Is that normal? I can't remember exactly how Ela was with hers, I know she didn't show much physically before having her puppies, but I don't know. I do know that the male she was bred to is older and close to the end of his breeding career, so I'm not sure how well he is still producing either. She has had a litter before I got her. Anyways, what do you guys think? She tested negative on her tests before the breeding also.

At this point, I would go with an ultrasound to be sure. I don't know how much that would cost.

I know they can do x-rays shortly before the due date as well. I would look into those options with your vet.

The vizslas get rediculously huge, but I haven't been around big pregnant dogs lately, so I can't help you with the size. Good luck, I hope everything is moving along as it should.

Hm, I just talked to my friend who owns the male. She said she had a female who was basically the same way, and you couldn't even tell she was pregnant until she had the puppies, and she had four very nice healthy puppies. I've already got a full waiting list for the puppies so hopefully everything goes as planned. She will also be getting his sperm count I think she said, checked out here pretty soon. I really think it is partially due to him, and not my female, but we'll find out everything soon enough I guess.

If she is due June 1st.. Now would be a good time to talk to your vet about doing some x-rays. That way you know for sure, and how many to expect. That way if (I hope not) there's a complication you know how many are coming. Most vets don't have ultrasound machines. We had to have a specialist come if we needed one.

Are her teats getting pinker? They may not drop until after the puppies are born and her milk production starts. Within a couple days of her due date she should start the nesting behavior.. So sometime end of next week/end.

I'm assuming you have her on a quality puppy food?
