I have a new kitty that I found crying outside my apartment. He was loaded with fleas so my veterinarian told me to use frontline. I'm new to this because my other cats have always been indoor cats and I haven't had a flea problem. Anyway, my fiance' and I put the frontline on Oliver right between the shoulder blades (as directed). A few minutes later I saw him turn his head and lick the spot that he supposedly shouldn't have been able to reach! He's licked it a few times today and I don't know what to do. He seems fine though. Its Sunday so my vet is closed and I went on Frontline's web site and there's no info on this issue. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

How old is your kitty? You shouldn't use it on, I think 6 mo or younger. I don't know if it's harmful if licked? My cat did the same thing though, agile little buggers aren't they, when he did it I saw him and I had my husband hold him while I flushed his mouth out with water and he seemed to be ok after. I hope your kitty is ok, but it would still be good to know, let us know what the vet says if you call.

He's a year old. He seems ok, just tired but that may be because of the shots that he got yesterday. I think he's fine but I'm worried because I'm not big on using things like that. In this case I guess it was necessary though.

I had to use frontline on my two cats a few times. Not only did they lick it off themselfs, but they licked it off each other :( I was going crazy for a while constantly checking on them to make sure they were ok. My sister is a Vet tech, so when they licked it, I called her right away and she was very helpful.

When your kitty licked the frontline, did you noticed him drooling a lot, and even perhaps looking like he was foaming out of the mouth? The good thing about this, is it tastes so horrible that is their way of ridding it.

My cats were fine from licking it. Just keep a eye on him, from what I was told if the cat is having a adverse reaction you will know with in hours, and the symptoms will not be hard to miss, such as seizures.

Well its the next day now and he seems fine (and flea free!). No foaming or drooling. I think he's ok. Thanks for your advice!

Steph :)
