Can you close the door so she can't go in there?
Also, if she can smell pee or poop in the room, she will think that that's a good place to go. It's very important to clean the area thouroughly so that there is no smell left.

My dad just put a new door in and shes in our shop for tonight and we had just put new carpet in yesterday.
Could it be that she does it because noone is ever in that room?

It is NEVER a good idea to leave a small dog outside. That being said, I own two small maltese dogs, Yuki and Kaya. Kaya is the one I am trying to potty train. Some of the members on this forum has suggested (and yes it does work) that I either use the pee pee pads or crate train Kaya. Since I refuse to crate train, I have been using the pads and yes it does work. What I have done is place the pads in a hallway, put Kaya on the pads to sit, allow her to sniff the pad so that she will know to go potty there. Kaya has gotten a lot better and quite a few times she has missed the pad altogether but after I clean it up, I place a new pad down and promptly put her on the pad to reinforce where she should potty. I have also begun to pay more attention to when she displays the urge to potty. One thing hubby mentioned is that when she begins to jump up on you then it is time to take her outside. I also have her on a regular potty schedule, she goes when Yuki does. Usually first thing in the morning, a few minutes after they eat and play, right before hubby goes off to work about 2pm, and again when I come home from work about 5:30pm, then again after they eat and play and just before bedtime. It might seem a little excessive to take them out so many times in a day but they are small dogs and I am trying to teach Kaya to go outside. She has done potty a few times outside so I know my method is working. I posted a picture recently of both Yuki and Kaya. Though Yuki is 2 years old, he is a lot bigger than Kaya who is 4 years old. As time goes on, I have moved the pad consecutively until it is now in front of the entrance door and that is where she goes but she still has mishaps every now and then. Whenever we don't want them to go somewhere in the house, we just close the door and now I find that even if I leave the door open, neither dog will go into that room without being invited in. Please take the time to train your dog because I promise you that she will grasp your training. As always, patience is the key. Good luck and let us know how your training is going.

I don't know how old your dog is, but I would recommend going back to house breaking methods as if it were a puppy. Doing the regular schedule of taking it outside several times a day . . . after it wakes up, after it eats, after naps, etc. I would go back to crate training. And I would be sure to keep an eye out for signs your dog has to go and take her out immediately. In other words, you need to be vigilant and help catch her before any more accidents.
You can even put her on a leash and attach the leash to your waist so that she isn't out of your sight.
I think if it is a room that isn't used, it is more attractive for the dog to go there. She isn't going where she lives.

I had a problem with Ruby doing that, bathroom and bedroom were her favourites. She is a big dog and the bigger the dog the bigger the mess. I started feeding her where she would do it, they wont use a feeding area as a place to poop and it worked for me. I still keep a close watch though, she is a very smart dog and very sneaky :D

hi goldies mom here. the dog is 2. Is crate training when you put them in a box and when not with them then out side. the problem is not so much the dog as it owner goldies dad. he wanted the dog and leaves it in the house with us and never takes her out when he goes anywhere. the dog can not be let out without running off. if he would take the time to take her out and fix the fence so she can not get out, other would let her out more. she likes it out but can only stay out for a short time. i do not know if the door will fix the problem she has not gone any where else? goldie is 9 and i do not like her taking on fixing her dad's problems.

Here is a link to crate training: http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/our_pets_for_life_program/dog_behavior_tip_sheets/crate_training.html
Also, you could use an exercise pen / doggie play pen in the house while you are reinforcing the house breaking. when the dog has been outside and done her business, you can let her roam freely around the house for awhile. but when you cannot keep an eye on her you put her back in the exercise pen with her crate and a pee pad.
And definitely you need to use something to clean the spots where the dog goes so that it breaks down the enzymes in the dog's eliminations. Regular cleaners won't do that, so even if you clean it to the dog it isn't really clean at all, but smells precisely like where she should go to the bathroom again.

i like the note about show him the shed.
we did seal the floor and replace the carpet and the new stop we used vinger and reg cleaner should i use something else? the dog does go in a kennel at night and when we are out and does not mess. we have tied her to us in the house tonight and our son age 11 is make a dog run for her. with the crate training the kennel is by the door not near us and we have no pad in there for her. would it be setting her backwards by putting one in there. i have a thing about letting them mess in the house. my dog is a big dog and was easy to train and sleeps in the shop at night and when we are gone. i will also take her off free choose food. she likes to stack all day long.

I think puppy pads defeat the purpose of house training. They were designed for people who live in high rise apartments. They advertise that they are for "training" your puppy, but all they do is train your dog that it is okay to go in the house. If you don't want your dog going in the house, then I would not use them.
How often are you taking your dog out? It sounds like you may need to go back to basics. Start taking her out once an hour, and giving her a treat and a praise when she does. Do this for a couple of days.
A good way to train dogs is with a bell. Hang a little bell on the door frame at your dog's nose level. Have her nose the bell, then take her outside. Do this for a week or so. Eventually, she'll learn to go nose the bell when she needs to go outside. It's a great way to communicated directly with your dog.

when you clean up now, you might want to use something like Nature's Miracle. It is made specifically for this use. "Advanced enzyme technology that specifically neutralizes and removes pet stain odors and stains by working to eliminate organic substances that cause stain and odors." I am not sure if vinegar will actually do the same thing, but it couldn't hurt to try this in case it was not.
I think you will still need to work on the training for house breaking again too. It is going to be habit that the dog needs to break also. Eliminating the smell will just help with that not do it on its own.

I have tryed the bell but she seems not to like it?
Should you do this over and over or just every hour?
Do you want to just let her out for a second or for a while?
I am trying to teach her but it seems she doesn't want to learn.
I am going to go try and train her somemore.[FONT="Palatino Linotype"]
