Hey,
i have a very lazy (and at times grumpy) Parson Jack Russell. Iam looking to get another one just so this one can have fun instead of lying at home bored the whole day. I have herd of jelous dog eating the other new dog (not sure if its true). But me and my family really want this new dog to! Can you help
1-What if they dont get along
2-What if one is aggresive to the other
3-Basic help (how to introduce the dogs)

Thanks!

1 - whenever you bring a new dog in, you don't really know how the old one will react. It's a good idea to have the dogs meet at a neutral area, like a park, before you bring the dog into your house. Then the dogs can meet and get to know each other. If they don't get along, you'll have to step and show them who's boss. The best way to introduce a new dog is to do it when you have a lot of time to spend with them. Then you can monitor how it is going. For the first week or so, it's good to keep them separated if you are going to be gone.

2 - If one is aggressive, then you need to step in and show them you are the pack leader. Break it up. Terriers are tenacious, but you really shouldn't have to worry about too much outword aggression. Especially if both dogs are spayed or neutered. Introducing animals that are not is more challenging.

3 - Like I said, have the dogs meet at a neutral place before you bring the new on into the house. Another good idea is when you get the new dog home, take them both for a good long walk. Then they will have burned off some energy, and will be used to being with each other.

When they meet for the first time, just let them sniff each other and do their thing. Don't force an interaction, let it happen naturally.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have more questions.

The advice Krystal gave you is very good, I would follow what she has said. I just want to add that it might take some time for them to get used to each other. Don't just give up if the dogs are not best friends within a few days.
