Is anyone else having problems with their kitties' allergies flaring up really bad this year. Both my boys usually get sniffles and such when spring starts and one has mild chronic URI, but this year has been awful! Both are otherwise perfectly healthy, vet says it's just allergies. I'm putting them on Lysine but I feel so bad for them. :(

If they have the herpes virus the l-lysine will help them a lot. My boy who has herpes eyes was most likely to have an outbreak in spring and fall. He's been on l-lysine for almsot six years and rarely has outbreaks at all anymore, even when stressed.

Its funny you mentioned it because I was just thinking to myself I was pleased that he wasn't having a season outbreak. at least, not yet.

L-lysine is a supplement for the treatment of the herpes virus and is very effective in most cats. They tell you to expect imporvement up to two weeks, but if it is truly herpes many cats show improvement in a matter of days.

Back on the lysine and it's starting to help. Poor Tigger though, his sneeze is so funny sounding and I can't help but laugh at him when he does it. I think he has a complex now, I'll start giggling and he takes off running.

hehehe.....my cats do not like to be laughed at either. I am very careful about that. Of course they don't seem to mind when I am laughing at an antic designed to entertain me, during Games for example. But if someone does something undignified or clumsy I have to run into the other room or stifle my giggles so as not to offend.

Glad to hear they are doing better. What form of l-lysine are you using?

Ha.. my cats are the same. If they trip or slip off of a shelf or something and i laugh, they look at me dead in the eyes and take off running.

I'm glad to hear that, people say I'm crazy when I tell them cats get mad if you laugh at them. My mothers siamese once jumped into a boys face and atacked with all she had when he laughed at her. Hunter just sulks.
