Here are Angus and Lucy. Both were born of different litters but just two weeks apart.

Angus was put to sleep in early February. Lucy's geriatric but still holding her own in her fourteenth year. Angus (the love of my life) is standing while Lucy's sitting. You just could not keep him out of water!

that is a beautiful picture. They both look so noble...and appear to be enjoying themselves :)

Thanks for sharing.

They are both beautiful! Springers right? I love the breed, they are just fantastic dogs IMO.

Sorry to hear about Angus' passing. Its always hard to loose a loved one, and he sounds like he must have been a really special boy.

Thanks katiem and That_girl. Yes both Springers.

As you suspect katiem Angus was the love of my life. I preferred his company to most people I know in fact.

Weird what they do for us isn't it? Weird and wonderful. I have sleep deprivation rather badly and suffer from pretty bad nightmares (have for years).

When I would awake during my time with Angus after a particularly bad nightmare I'd grab my pillow and a blanket and Angus would be at the bottom of the front stairs waiting for me almost as if he knew I needed my boy.

I'd lie down on the front room floor with pillow and blanket and that all-knowing dog would lay next to me (always facing me). I'd put an arm around him and drift off to sleep. It never failed.

OH! How I miss my Angus. Thanks for your kind words of condolence.

I wish we had more time with them... I know it's inevitable..... I just wish we did.

Angus & Lucy are both gorgeous. I am so sorry to hear about Angus' loss. You're absolutely right - our time with them is never long enough.

Hi Zephaniah, and welcome to petlovers.

What handsome dogs. I grew up with a springer, smartest dog I've ever seen. It didn't like us kids though, but would do anything in the world for my Dad.

I don't remember if you mentioned the breed of the pup you had shipped. Is it also a Springer?

I also feel for you on the loss of your long time companion. I, as many others on this board, do understand your pain.

I've just posted a photo of Pilot (the new pup) in the introduction thread. Yes. He's another Springer! I guess I can't get enough of them.

lol.......I figured as much! I pegged you already for a Springer lover.

For me, it is German Shepherds (and parrots of course).

Thanks K4B.

The loss just morphs into a place of silent resignation it never goes away.

Thanks for all your kind words. (you too vix)

Strange Zephaniah I had a similar problem. For years I suffered from really bad nightmares, 3 or 4 a night. The first night I brought Levon home was the first night in years I didn't have a nightmare. Have not had many in almost 2 years now, and every time I do when I wake up he is sitting right by my bed watching me. 130 pounds of comfort.

I loved reading about your similar experience katiem.

My sister's husband (a jerk and a half) once said to me "I truly believe you like animals better than people".

My response?

"Well old boy it certainly holds true in YOUR case"

I'm not ashamed to admit that I do! I would much rather spend time with the furries than with the ... fleshies?!?

No wonder I'm single...:D

The photo of Angus and Lucy is beautiful...someone is a photographer. I am so sorry you lost Angus, I, too, lost my dearest love (Max) just a few weeks ago. I still cry when I'm alone.
