Cool Whip OVERLOAD

...well, I hadn't posted pictures of her in a long time, and over the past few days...I've been taken some. I also wanted to update you all on her progress...

It seemed to me that with the Dex Injection (steroid), Cool Whip got worse. She was grooming more often and new scabs were starting to appear.

Of course, that didn't keep us from hanging out in the yard with Chica.

These were just taken a few days ago, showing just how bad her face was getting on the steroid injection.

Now, because she lives outside...she goes to work with my every day and spends the days indoors. This is her carrier...that doesn't shut at all...and if she wanted to, she could certainly run away, but she never does.

Perhaps it's because she gets breakfast in it every morning?! She LOVES Whataburger hashbrowns!

Today, I noticed Cool Whip was grooming an excessive amount. More so than usual...something wasn't right.

You can't really see it here, but I noticed a serum-like fluid coming from her nose.

She was also acting fairly depressed...didn't really come out of her house, wouldn't come out when I talked to her...just real lame.

Of course, she came right out when the doctor put a Nilla Wafer in there.

We managed to get a swab of the fluid substance...and then stained it to look under the microscope. We were hoping it was just serum from under a scab...but, one look in and with all those neutrophils (sp?), we knew it was pus.

In this image, you can see a big neutrophil. Inside many of the surrounding neutrophils, including the one center stage, is a bunch of Cocci Bacteria. Cool Whip's nose is horribly infected.

So, we've put her back on more antibiotics and possibly more steroids...

Let's hope for the best. Surely this is not the end of the line for little Cool Whip.

That poor kid! Her little face must be awfully itchy! Good thing she has a great mom to take care of her.
