i was looking at cricket tonight, and it appears he has somehow cut the white part of his eye tonight sometime. I am not sure how, could be many ways, playing too rough, walking through the big pile of sticks and leaves outside. He currently was prescribed an eye ointment for a slight eye infection, I was wondering if that will take care of the cut or not. I am planning on calling the vet in the morning, but I figured I'd ask here as well, hoping for a quicker answer maybe?
The ointment is called Neo-Poly-Bact. with HC Opthal. Oint. on the label,
Vetropolycin HC on the box it came in.

NO! Don't put that in the eye right now!
HC is Hydrocortizone, a steroid. You should NEVER put a steroid into an open wound on the eye. It will only make your situation worse. I think that if possible, please take Cricket in to the vet in the morning. Hopefully you can get some care for it before it ulcerates or even becomes infected as well.
Poor dude, it's got to hurt. :(

You're welcome. :) I was hoping you hadn't already done it as I didn't know when you posted that...I guess I could have looked at the time. :] ...they may just give you a different cream or even drops to use for now until the laceration heals.

I am so glad that you received Tiffany's advice so quickly! Shih tzu's little protruding eyes are prone to bumps and injuries and it's very important to get care right away for our animals' eyes. Hope she's all better soon :)

Well, we just got back from the vet, and turns out he did not cut his eye, but bruised it. One of the blood vessels had burst for one reason or the other. They stained his eye just to make sure, and found no scratches. So, he should be just fine in a few days with the medicine we have for him.
Thanks for being concerned with me guys!
