How can you tell if your parrot is eating at night? Dexter drop quiet a bit of pellets on the paper bottom of the cage..Does this mean he eats pellets at night? I only put pellet food in the cage at night and mixed fruit and seed all day when he is outside..

Maybe he is a closet pellet eater. Probably. Or he is looking for the seeds.

It is a fact that birds like to munch in the middle of the night. I take out all soft foods and replace it with dry for Marcel to snack on during the night and he does.
My tiel and budgies also like to snack during the night too.

none of my birds ever snack at night....probally because they would have to climb down the tree (and would probally fall in the process) in order to get to the food.

I actually put the bowl close to where my bird sleeps because I want him to have a pellet at least at night for balance diet and my bird actually climb for water at night..BTW Dexter was eating veggies "Bok Choy" that is, I have to play it with my mouth for a minute and then I let my son did the same without using any hands and he was like staring wondering hhhmm I can eat it too, so after we play it we left the room and sure enough he start picking it first then actually eating it..

Awwww. Retret you're a good birdie psychologist. That's a great idea to get him to eat! He's so smart.

:) Thanks, I feel that if you want to be with the flock then act like one. :D
IMO, you gotta know when is the right moment to teach the bird, like Dexter there are times that he doesnt even stare at you but when he does stare and look at you thats the upportunity that we can use to do sort of things...

Yes I agree there are times that birds have no interest in what we are doing. Although I find that the majority of the time, they are interested.
