Chica, my little Chi, was spayed one week ago tomorrow and her incision looks great! It was sealed using skin glue and there is no redness..just some mild bruising and some little scabbing down the area.

Her incision is hard though and looks a little distended..feels like there is a lump underneath..like fluid or sutures that you can feel. Is this normal??

She has been wearing an E-collar..no licking and has been kept quiet. She just wonders around the house and doesnt do any heavy running or playing. She is eating, drinking, and acting like her normal self.

Thanks for any advice!

There are two layers of sutured skin underneath the external layer. If it's hard...you are probably feeling the sutures healing up the skin. If it's hard and warm, get her to a vet. If it's jelly-like, like filling with blood of fluid...take her back. Otherwise, it's just part of the healing process.

I just felt her incision and it is warm *like skin warmth not exceedingly warm* and hard. Here is a picture:

I will keep an eye on it but as of right now it seems fine.

Looks like the sutures are trying to heal, she may be, in fact, having a little reaction to them which is normal. I'm sure she'll be fine.

Thanks Tiffers...I will keep an eye on them. She goes back on the 5th for her recheck and to get her vaccines.

If it's unchanged, definitely bring it up. But, best of luck otherwise!
