Puppy with a mermer

I just took my puppy to the vet for shots and he told me she had a mermer in her heart, what steps should I take for this, is there any thing I can do I dont want to give my puppy up. The vet advised to not give it the 7/1 shot and to just take it back. :(

Pitman, I don't know about heart murmurs in dogs, but if they are any thing like humans they can live long healthy lives with few precautions. I would recommend reading up on it before you make any decissions. I ususally go on the web and type in dog health, you should be able to find a site from that.

I'd get a second opinion...or read up on it like she said. Heart murmurs are usually nothing in people (I myself have one that I can literally feel when it skips or double beats, especially at high altitudes, but my heart is perfectly healthy...and I'm only 21!) SO maybe they're not a big deal in dogs either...hopefully not. At any rate, I'd do some more research before just taking the dog back. BUT--do at least call your breeder and let him know about it, so he knows not to breed those two dogs again. A responsible breeder would want to know of any and all health problems his puppies had.
