I just got a puppy and he has an "outtie". I heard that it was a health problem and also that it was find. Does anybody know anything about it?

I've heard that it is an umbilical hernia, and that there is a danger of entangling the intestine. But the vet techs on here will be able to answer you better.

I have heard of this before, and was told that they usually fix it when you have him neutered. But, I have no personal experience...

Umbilical Hernia is the first thing that comes to mind. This will most certainly need to be repaired, and is usually done so when you Spay/Neuter. If you're not going to alter the sex, you NEED to fix that hernia. As stated, the intestine will get tangled up in it, and you're looking at a very sick pet and even more expensive surgery.
