question about my dog with kidney disease

my dog is 15 yrs old and has kidney disease. She's had kidney disease for about 2 years and has been doing relatively well...she lost some weight but other than that she's been ok. My mom gives her an IV of some fluids which the vet prescribed.

well this morning she took a turn for the worst. When she woke up she couldn'nt stand at first and once she got up she was wobbling around looking confused. Now her eyes are darting to the left over and over and she has trouble keeping her head up.

i'm going to take her to the vet tommorrow . I don't know what they'll say other than it's time to put her down. I just dont know what made her take this kind of sudden turn. Looking at her and by the way her movements are it looks like something to do with the brain..she is not herself at all.

i'm hoping she sleeps it off and wakes up tommorrow alright. she hasn't eatin anything today..her appetite is usually really good.

anyone know what the darting eyes could be?

It sounds like a neurological problem, which can be related to the kidney failure or not. Has your mother skipped any medications or fluids or has she been faithful the entire time?

I do hope you can get her into the vet and perhaps they can help her out some. What kind of dog is she? What's her name?

yeah some fluids have been missed but she was given fluids on sat and on wed


update- she had a good sleep and slept all day and she's doing better. The eye movement is gone and she seems way more alert. her balance is much better also. she's still not eating though.

havn't taken her to the vet yet. no reason to now...i already know what the vet is gonna say its time to put her down

The vet will not always say it's time, and I'd hate for you to have that mindset about them. If possible, do not miss any treatments. Missing treatments can most certainly cause her more neuro problems or even death.

the vet is making a house call tommorrow

yesterday i got her to eat two slices of cheese but other than that she hasn't eatin anything in 4 days. She's been eating grass and throwing up. She's been drinking water. But she wont eat...i've tried to get her to eat her kibble, or some chicken, rice.

how long can she last with not eating?

...it depends on her body make-up. Some animals can go longer than other's. Hopefully the vet can recheck her kidney levels so you know if this illness can be reversed or not.
