I know this has nothing to do with Parrots, but I need to know if anyone has a cockatiel? And if you do, does he or she ever shiver? I mean all the time? My Pearlee does, and I am very worried? I asked this quistion on cockatiels societyThey said some do at times and only if they are fixing their feathers or shacking off water after being sprayed. I realize, they do that? But they also told me mine is very ill? I am so scared. We don't have an avery vet just a normal one. Its very far away from us to a avery one. But now I am very scared she will die? What is wrong with her? Please help?

Actually cockatiels are parrots/ hookbills. take them to vetright away. It is imperitive. Call the vet and at least try to talk to them. Also maybe the vet can make a house call.

Hi birdygirl, well when I go into her room she isen't shaking like the way you think? She acts as though this is a scared thing? My husband says I worry to much, and she doesn't shake all the time. He said she is scared. Thats how she seems? she is scared. I really don't quite know why? But she is eating very well,, and drinking her water and even eats other things. What ever we eat! So she hasen't stopped eating or any of that. We haven't really had her all that long. Maybe 2 months and she is still a baby.Same age as Sunni. But we have had her less time. I am beginning to think she is maybe scared of the others? I will keep an eye on her and call the vet on monday. Thanks for listening. Gail

All of my birds shiver from time to time. I was told that birds do not shiver when cold, however I only notice this behavior when the house is a bit on the chilly side.

Yes, but my house is always pretty warm. I put them in the room they are in, because its the warmest. Sometimes to warm,we have to turn the heat down. Also its pretty warm outside now and she still shakes. I noticed that it is not as much. I didn't call the vet. I don't feel she is in ill health. I know they can hide it. So if she is ill the vet won't be able to tell either. I am giving her some time on this. I have noticed that sunni does this as well. Not real bad, but has always done this. She isen't scared, but this is something that Senegal's do. So maybe she see's sunni do this, and copys her?
