Thank god I haven't had any health problems yet. Although I had a scare with Snickers (tiel) when we first got her 2 years ago. I had her wings clipped but one day I took her out on my shoulder around the pool and before I could do anything she jumped in. I got so frightened for her when I saw her flapping in the water that I jumped in after her which sent her under. I quickly fished her out and she was breathing heavily and wheezing. My husband and I drove her immediately to the local vet and there we were all dripping wet in his office. They examined her and listened to her chest and told us her lung wasn't full, just a little congested. They wrapped her in warm towels and put her under a heat lamp for a while. All the time she was crying for me and when she was better and saw me she tweeted very loud and jumped to my shoulder. She doesn't go anywhere near the pool anymore and luckily the chlorine didn't do any damage. So far so good, she is very healthy today.

i have a story very simular. well, like i've said, jake and sam like to float around on floaties in the pool. they are kind of like kick boards, like a little raft. one day, sam got curious and walked to the edge. the floatie got off of balane and he went slidding in. he didn't flap his wings or anything, just sunk to the bottom. i grabed him as fast as i could but he was shaking and water was comming out of his mouth and nose. i brought him in and blow dried him for a few minutes and he was perfectly fine. he still likes going in the pool, but now they both know that they better stay in the middle of the board.

Your poor birds! I would have been scared to death if that had happened to one of mine! I'm so happy that they were all ok, and I guess it's lucky that they've learned now to be extra careful around the pool. Thankfully none of my birds have ever been really sick, the worse thing being a cold that my lovebird had two days ago but now she's over it. Yea!! Kirby wasn't sick, but about a month ago he flew over to Mortie's cage, and Mortie came up to the bars and started biting his toes and beak! I zoomed over and pried Kirby off, and Mortie had gotten him pretty bad in a few spots and he was bleeding on his feet. My mom was gone, so I called her and told her to come home right away, and also I called my vet to see what I should do until I got there, and she said to put flour on his feet to stop hte bleeding, which I did. (he looked like a little white powdery bird for a while, but at least he wasn't bleeding!) As soon as my mom got home we hopped in the car and drove to the clinic, but we had to drive almost 45 minutes away since my vet has two clinics and it was on a Saturday when she doesn't come to the one closer to me! We even had a plane to catch that day but it thankfully had been postponed two hours which gave us time to get poor Kirby helped out. My vet thought Kirby might need a few stitches since his skin on his foot was bitten so badly, but I didnt' want to risk the anasthesia (I woudl have killed myself if he died under it! I know the chance is low, but still...), so my vet said that just to disinfect his foot daily would probably be fine which ended up being enough, because now it's competely healed and you can hardly tell!

That can be so scarey. I just hope and pray that my birds will always be okay? That is a fear I have, and I don't know what I would do if something were to happen to them? Its the same feeling I have with my children. Its not a good thing. Anyway good to read the storys and know they are all okay;)

this afternoon, i came home from school and went into the kitchen. i was planning on haveing a very calm, relaxing afternoon and to sunbathe out by the pool. that thought immediately was gone. Sam was on the floor with 2 puppies in pouncing position!!!!!!!! i flipped out and ran over to him and grabbed him up! he was so scared and bit me, one of the deep ones that's probally going to scar. :( he knows he's not allowed out of his room, but i was running late to school and forgot to say bye....i guess they were looking for me cause my mom said that they squaked and wondered around all day. anyways, it was very tramatizeing, but we are both ok :)

but my budgie has been almost eaten mby the cat three times. She is an escape artist. Now every door on the cage has at least two clippies and no more cat accidents have ocured since then.
