This was in the local paper today:
Associated Press
APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — A man faces a felony charge of mistreatment of an animal causing death for allegedly hanging one of his dogs in his garage because it nipped at him.
The charge filed last week against Eric Shattuck, 34, of Appleton, stemmed from the killing of the dog last September.
Appleton police said they began investigating Sept. 28 after someone familiar with the situation informed them of it, and they found the dog’s body in a garbage bag in the garage.
According to police, Shattuck told investigators he tried to kill the dog, named Swiper, by mixing antifreeze in its water, but the dog wouldn’t drink it so he hung the dog from the garage rafters by its choke collar and left it to die.
His initial appearance is scheduled Feb. 12 in Outagamie County Circuit Court.
His phone line was being checked and not working when The Associated Press tried to reach Shattuck for comment Monday
