Help! mom tried to eat her kitten!

This is terrible! She ate two of her babies already and the third one is alive and she is feeding it and caring for it, BUT, upon closer inspection we see that its tail and hind leg are gone..........mom ate them! Will this baby survive? What would you do?? I am distraught! Please help us!

Oh my! I've never heard of cats doing this! Have you called your vet? I would think it necessary to take the kitten away from the mother and hand feed at this point.

I hope things are going better for your cat and her remaining kitten. If she was a 1st time mom that could be the reason for her behavior or maybe there was something wrong with the kittens that you couldn't see. At the childrens farm I volunteer at we had a rabbit do the same thing. She was a 1st time mom.

I am so sorry to hear that! I didn't know that cats would do that. Your vet should have an answer for you. Poor babies!
