after reading up on cat food quality on this forum i realized that i wasnt feeding my cats a preium quality food ( i was feeding them purina cat chow)> so i did some more research and i checKed out petco where i live and the best choices were natural balance and pure gold> the naTureal balance didn"t look like it would be good eventhough i have read how great it is so i bought the pure gold on a purple bag> its been a week now aNd they have transitioned over to it and they seem to like it> is this a good choice of food to stick with? thank you

i think tiffers and i agree on this subject. its whatever is best for your pet.

example: we got our cats innova cat food. turned out that there was too much protein in it and they wouldnt stop farting! so we went back to purina one, which is lower in quality ingredients but they do much better on it.

the biggest thing to stay away from is animal by-products.... icky. purina pro plan is pretty good and the best, by far, is innova because all of it is natural. but if your pet does better on something else, then feed it that. just be sure that when you switch that you do it gradually so you dont throw off their systems. pay attention to their coat, weight gain and activity level. if those seem better on a certain food then keep it :)

One of the other things to look for on the cat food label is to make sure the first ingredient in the listing is meat or a meat meal. Meal is one of the single best sources of protein in commercial pet foods. It is also a plus if the meats are antibiotic and hormone free.

I have always fed our pets the Purina One food that we buy at the store but I have recently changed our cats over to Petlane's Perfect Purr cat food and they seem to be doing well. Next is our dogs ..

ive heard of it but they dont sell it in my area. like the previous poster stated just read the label. if its a really good food they might have their own website and can give you a little more insight. the things you want to stay away from are wheat gluten, animal by-products etc...
