UPDATE!

Well, Cool Whip is just grand. She's totally sweet, and I'm glad that I opted to give her a chance. I stopped putting the drops on the wounds, and she seems to not spend as much time cleaning them which allows more healing time. The wounds also seem to be 'browning', as though scabs are trying to form.

I think she gets a little camera-shy. Maybe she's self-concious?

I think she may actually pull through this. She eats and drinks well, and loves her Medicated Peanut-Butter. She even continues to groom, which is usually a sign something's wrong.

Chipotle, the spicy terror, has also found peace. I'm actually surprised that I can reach into her cage and pet her. She's still a little scared when I pick her up, but we are definitely getting somewhere.

She was so nice to me, that I HAD to give her a doggie bone. :]

I wanted to post this picture because you can really see the three browns in her fur, she's called a 'Calico Creme' color. I think it's soooo pretty.

And this one...well, it's just cute. :]

Chipotle is so cute! You mentioned that Cool Whip is camera shy, do you suppose that because she's albino her eyes are more sensitive to the flash?

Just a random question -- are pink eyed white rats actual albinos? I know that sounds dumb, but with guinea pigs, pink eyed white pigs are just pink eyed and white, they're not albinos. (Pink is a naturally occurring eye color, and the white coat color is also just a color).

Sorry, didn't mean to get too off topic. :)

Nanamouse, probably so. :] I hadn't thought about that...I should probably not take so many pictures then! :[ I don't want to add blindness to her list of problem areas.

I've always been told that rat's with white coats and red eyes are Albinos. They were bought at Petco (Caffiene and Cool Whip) and from what I understand, for the longest time, Petco only sold Albinos for bait/feeding of larger animals. Honestly, though...I don't really know. If she's not an Albino, I'd be interested in what she really is.

Yes, PEW is the AFRMA's term for an albino rat. Albino has a tendency to bring to mind lab rats or snake food while PEW brings up the image of a show quality rat.

Tiffers, I took thousands of pictures of Trisssha and Trissskette in the year and a half that I had them. At 2 and a half years, they had pretty good eyes sight for albinos. Better than my first albino Ruby who developed cataracts at age one and I took only a few pictures of her in the time that she was in my care. But yes, they are more light sensitive than pigmented rats. I hate using the flash on my camera because I feel it screws with the quality of an image. Thus why I do most of my paparazzi-ing of the cats during the day

That's interesting to know! Thanks for the info. :)

I must get lucky. My laptop does what I need it to(got it for free) and my camera works better without the flash then with(got it free too). I only miss the scanner my mom had but I have a printer/scanner/fax machine that my father-in-law gave me and another scanner that he gave me.

In fact... most of the things I own were given to me. I only paid for one desk and one sofa and I got both of them second hand... And then some other smaller decorative things...

It's been horrible just reading the subjects of the threads you posted about Cool Whip, shame.

Aww...I see that. :( ...I know I rearranged my albums a while back. The newer threads should still have images. Sorry about that! :p

Okie :)

I love the names you picked for them! So unique! Sorry to hear about the trauma you went through though and your rattie.
