Rat barns

We built little barns for our rats, they love them. We would like to know if they would be safe for other rodents. All wood construction with a metal roof.
We have been selling them with great results.

Is the red paint for sure non-toxic, and is the wood soft enough for your rats to chew through? If the answer is yes and no, I'd think they'd be perfectly safe.
