Thought I'd put some new photos of the girls, they've been so polite about it.

Thanks, Maisie - Lightning never looks impressed about anything! But then she's about 13 years old, so she's allowed her attitude!

Thanks, Krazy, and Beasgal, they are really sweet kitties, and if you'll check out my other thread about the Tag Team, you'll see that Fluff loves the pups! Pariah will play chase at full speed all over the house, but Lightning has made it very clear that the dogs are not welcome in her personal space! :D

Lightning has been outside maybe twice in the last two months! She's decided she's a house cat! Hardly leaves the bench in the hallway where her food bowl is.

...she still vomiting? :(

Yes, and I noticed this morning, there's no change in the food bowl. I know Fluff and Pariah only eat sparingly, little nibbles throughout the day, but Lightning was a big eater. She was behind some boxes in the office this morning, and now is perched on one of the shelves under the island in the kitchen. Don't think she's eaten, yet. :(

Bring her in to weigh her...

Dang it, it's one of those times. Why can't our furbabies ever get ill when we have some money to spare?

...well, she is...what? 15?! ...I'd at least weigh her, that way you know if she's eating or not. If her weight is the same, let her be...if she's lost...you can try some canned food...or tuna juice on the food or something. For a while, I was giving her canned food every AM...she loved that.

She's at least 13, I know Gram had her at least 10 years, and I've had her about 3. Will they charge me to weigh her?

Thanks, I have to admit, I didn't want Lightning. It's sad, but nobody wanted her. When Mom passed away, we had pure h*ll finding someone who would take her two dogs. They were black lab mixes, a mother and son that had never been separated, and had been confined to a very small yard for most of the son's life. A friend of my sister's took them to his parents, they have acreage in the country and the dogs are so much better off. But Lightning was unfriendly, would hide behind furniture, wouldn't let anybody pet her, or anything. My sister kept her for a few months, but then she finally found a small apartment instead of the huge house she'd been renting, and couldn't keep the extra cat. So, I agreed to take her.

That was two years ago, and she's just now getting to where she'll come up to me to be petted, she still stays in hiding most of the time, but tolerates the dogs now, and finally is acting like a pet. I feel sorry for her, but I haven't become attached to her, like with the other two girls. I've had them both since they were kittens.

I feel it's quite ok to 'share' a home with an animal, yet not be best friends. I and my kitty, who is really my daughter's (in college out of state) cat, tolerate each other. As long as we both follow a few rules, we get along fine. Kitty has a harder time following rules than I do!

All 3 of your cats are very pretty, I must admit though, I'm partial to calico's.

...we won't charge you to weigh her, but if she's lost a lot of weight, you and I will have to make a decision.

Update: Lightning seems to be back to her usual attitude self. She's eating again, though only the dog food. I haven't seen her on the bench with the cat food in awhile. Guess I'll have to get her some canned cat food, just to keep her in the right nutrition.

Not sure if I had posted about this before, but every time Pariah and Fluff go outside now, there are 3 tom cats that come hanging around. They act like the girls are in heat, but the girls (other than being more affectionate than usual) aren't acting like it. They were both spayed at 6 months, and that was at least 4 years ago! Well, I kept them in the house for two weeks. They weren't happy about that, let me tell you. Today I finally let them back out since the weather was just so awesome, and sure enough the toms were back! What gives?

Fluff is a beauty! Lightning and Pariah, too. Lightning doesn't look that old to me. Maybe it's grief causing the problems. I hope she gets better soon. They can live a very long time with illnesses, but you do need to find out exactly what her problem is. Pariah looks like my mom's Bear-Bear.
