ipod speaker with fish inside

I've just read about this third-party ipod accessory, called an ipond, that has a fish stuck inside an ipod speaker attachment (much too small an environment for the siamese fighting fish)!

I find it amazing that large pet stores, such as pets paradise, sell these things! it has further confirmed to me that this chain doesn't really care much for pets. i find it reckless behaviour.

The article also made me think of animal cruelty. I think lots of people aren't intentionally cruel to animals, rather i think they just aren't aware of the potential harm they can cause. a line that struck me was: "Studies proved fish had memories well beyond a few seconds and were social creatures that experienced pain and boredom, he said". if people knew that about the fish, they probably would reject the ipond.

I just found out from a friend about this cruel invention. It is 5 hours later and I still feel sick. I have one of these beautiful fish in a 6 litre bowl and he does remember things and recognizise me and follows my finger around the bowl.

How can Pet Paradise and the others that are selling it, say that it is not cruel. For starters fish are very sensitive to virbrations, and should not be placed on sound speakers as it will distress them which will lead to death.

What kind of world are we creating?

We need to start a Petition. Does anyone have any ideas.

omg that is sooo wrong.. how would those people like it if they were put in a little box. for others enjoyment.. the fish cant even turn around or move..i also hope it gets recalled. the only reason i would buy a bunch of those is to find a way to release the fish into a bigger tank.. but then that would be giving money to the people who made the disgusting torture chambers and they would make more.. so nevermind . and how do the fish live? i would think they would run out of oxygen or die in thier own filth. how do you feed them? i think this is the dumbest invention a person can make. i cant even believe people would even think to buy or make this! its so sad
