Do you have a magnifying glass? Look really closely, esp. on her feet and head.

I've read that mites are rare in birds, but that the treatment for mites could be deadly, thereby there was a huge note of caution before any anti-mite action should be taken.

I hope your little guy is alright. Please keep us posted on him.

I was told to put white paper/fabric on the bottom of the cage at night. The mites are active and fall off at nite. Check the paper in the am. If you see itsy little red specks. It is mites. You may want to use a magnifier.
Otherwise you may want to try a little vit. e oil on his feet.
Have you checked the bottom of the feet too? are they very pink? have you changed the location of an abrasive perch lately?
Good Luck.

You can try the white sheet but in Arnold's (my lizard) cage I put white paper towels down since I just recently found out he has mites and not a single one showed up...all stayed hitched on him! There is mite medicine that you can get from a vet's that is fairly safe, though like B said mites are rare in birds and I've never known a lovebird to have them.

someone on this board had a cockatiel with mites. but Barkley is acting normal now so I'm not going to worry about it I'll ask the vet about mites when I take her.
