Jack is due for his 2nd set of shots in like 2-3 weeks.
I want to get him neutered but the low cost vet won't do it until he's 4 months (he is currently 12 weeks). So if I make his appt for 4 weeks from now--would it be bad if we didn't do the 2nd set of shots until then? They do them low cost but when all done together I save more money.
I don't want that to come across like I don't have his well-being in mind, because I do. But I'm also a fulltime college student who is newly married and living on her husbands money...

I'm not one of the vet techs, so this is just an opinion, but i am a disorganized person who has frequently been a week or two late getting a kitten it's second set of shots and none of them have become ill. Based on that you're probably safe, when Tiffers or someone else in the field gets on you'll get an answer based on fact and education, not guesswork.

Thanks!
I don't think it would cause too many issues. Time is another issue as well. I'm down to my last 5 weeks of school before graduation (yay!) and life is a bit on the busy/crazy side.

The only problem is you're not boosting his immune system. It's 'okay' if we're talking about an older dog, but I really wouldn't advise putting the 2nd set of shots off for a whole month. If you wait too long to boost, some vets will start over from the very beginning with puppy shots. They're the most imporant, and it's very, very, very important to do them at the three week intervals to boost the immune system properly. You can wait, but you're risking a lot especially his health.
EDIT: ...wait, I'm almost confused...or maybe I am. :) ...he's due again in three weeks? So, a week after he's due you'll get him neutered? If that's the situation, he should be fine. I thought you were saying he'll be due in three weeks, and then four weeks after the due date is when you'll fix him...?

I was recently in a similar situation about how long could I go without the booster. I was told there is a one week leeway. Meaning you could go one week earlier or one week later. Of course this was an adult cat.
Be sure to tell us when you graduate so we can congratulate you!

Thanks guys,
Yes I meant that it would be one week later than he was supposed to get them--so it sounds like he should be fine.
I'll let you know about graduation!

Yeah, one week is fine as Special and I said. :) Good luck!
