If you are planning on keeping her if no one claims her then I would say you should keep her inside or she may run off like she did from her last home!

Indoor cats live a lot longer than outdoor usually, and are exposed to a lot less dangers and illness. Out of my 7 that are actually mine only one is indoor/outdoor (he came to me full grown and refuses to stay in) and I hold my breath every day when I drive up the street that I won't find him hit by a car, or chewed up by a loose dog. If you can get her to stay in, that would be best IMO.

Congrats to you for giving her a chance! :)

Catillac is indoor/outdoor. In at night, out during the day. You may have a hard time keeping her in if she's a stray, but...some strays are peculiar. You never know...indoor is best, less dangers as Nanamouse said...but, if the kitty loves outside...let her outside.

I wondered if I would have problem with Jennie wanting to go out but she shows absolutely no desire, thank goodness.

Obviously she was an indoor/outdoor cat before because my vet said she appered to have had at least three prgenancies, and only 2 years old!) and the last one was when she was very likely dumped.

to OP: bless you for taking care of this cat and trying to find her owner. Check the newspaper for adds, too.

Definitely bring her in, once she's spayed (if she is not already) she'll be more likely to want to stay home.

(in edit) if you have cats already, do not bring her in the house until she has seen a vet, been vaccinated and tested for diseases..

I rescued a mom and her kitten last year, I trapped the mom and found her 3 babies (2 got adopted). The mom was about 4 yrs old and feral. She has become very attached to me and wants absolutely nothing to do with that awful outdoor life that she suffered in having lived through 3 winters and 3 brutal summers in TN. She's very content in the controlled climate indoors and the constant flow of food. :D (So is her baby who is now 1 yr old and twice as big as his mom and very happy and spoiled).

The ferals DO get attached, don't they? Strays seem more likely to want to go back out, maybe thats how they got to be strays to begin with, too much wanderlust, but not one of my three ferals shows the slightest interest in that big scary world on the other side of the door.

Sometimes they, or stays can make the best cats<s> though I guess I love all mine whether they showed up at my door or came form the shelter.

My lastest rescue, Jennie, shows absolutely no desire to go out. She loves to sit in the window and watch the birds (I know they were a main source of diet for her for at least 6 months) but doesn't act like she wants to catch them. She's very grateful for her kibble and fancy feast and purrs throughout her meals.!

She is one of those "instant purrers" and how I love her!

I have two office kitties who were babies of feral moms and it amazes me how loving and affectionate they are. I always wondered if everyone found it to be that way. Now I know.
