Ziggy was diagnoised with an ear infection what can I do to make sure this never happens again?
And the vet also said that he could have allergies..Do any of your animals have allergies.
I just want the best for my baby..and if I can provent him from harm & BIG vet bills I will do it.

Poor baby!
I don't know much about ear infections, but here is a link to a site with some good info:
Healthy Pet (http://www.healthypet.com/Library/cat_dog_health-16.html)
My JRT has airborn seasonal allergies. Summer and fall is when they act up. Hers can get pretty bad and she usually has to go on a short course of steroids.
Alot of dogs have food allergies. Was your vet more specific?

What kind of infection? Yeast?
Spike has had one already (he's 18 weeks old). They flushed out his ears and gave me meds for it. I've been warned that Sam (his brother) will be prone to them with the great amount of retriever in him (his breed).
I've talked to vet techs and my vet about this. They suggested that once you get thru the infection, start them on regular weekly ear cleaning. I bought a solution from the vet (VET Solutions Ear Cleansing Solution) to use.
My OTB dog Jethro had incredible allergies that would mess up his ears. Regular cleaning helped him also.
Your baby is absolutely adorable!! I hope he gets over this quickly. Give him belly rubs for me please.
My dog, Bear, suffered ear infections almost constantly for a few years, and we could never figure out what was causing it! He was on medication all the time and as soon as it'd clear up, he'd have trouble again.
We finally figured out that it was the yeast in his biscuits that makes him get it. He's allergic to it. We changed brands to the ONLY kind we could find that had no yeast and he's not had any troubles since.
Sierra is prone to ear infections and allergies. Weekly cleanings with a cleaner purchased from the vet help but I always keep the medication panalog on hand for when her ears do start to bother her. She is allergic to grass, of all things. She rolls in it then she gets red bumps all over. We only figured that out because we moved from a house with a yard with no grass to a yard of all grass. Poor thing gets shots in the summer to help her out and never seems to be bothered by ear infections during that time. In the colder months when she is not outside as much she just get baths when she starts to really itch and I wipe her belly down with a wet washcloth if she has spent alot of time out in the yard. Her skin also gets irritated with certain foods. It can be tricky to figure out what the dog is actually allergic to. I hope Ziggy's ears feel better soon. He is very cute!
