Hey guys, haven't been on in ages.
My little Parker is doing well. No more complications from the declaw process but since then he's gotten a new big brother!
His name is Rudy and he's a 5 year old, 15 pound cat. I adopted him the morning after my bachelorette party when we dropped my vet friend off at work. he had been boarded and abandoned for months and on the verge of being euthanized. Hung-over or not, I just couldn't say no. What bugs me the most about his abandonment is after acquiring his records, he had be de-wormed 4 times in his short life...and he was an indoor cat!!
I've had Rudy for one year (anniversary was on the 8th!) and he hasn't had any problems. He loves his little brother Parker and is the friendliest cat in the world. Never ceases to give 'lovins' with his adorable head-butting.
But I digress....

My issue is that he came to me 15 lbs heavy and now he's 18 lbs! I've tried regulating his intake, but it's difficult because Parker won't eat if he doesn't and since Parker eats very little, Rudy comes around and finishes his food for him. I tried to put Parkers' food on top of the fridge and have Rudy's on the ground but the fat boy can JUMP!
SO
How on earth do I put him on a healthy diet without his little brother practically starving?
Help!

Maybe feed the little brother in a crate, and when he's done put any food left away? Or vice versa. Just don't leave any food down once they've eaten. Gonna be rough on the little guy for a little while, but he'll learn to eat his fill at mealtimes then. Just an idea.
