so i dont know if anyone read my posts about my pets having fleas. but i found another flea on zeke! anyways, thats not the point. my cat, hera, shes 7 months old now. well i was checking out her gums and they look kinda pale. and she has some patches of fur missing with scabby stuff like looks like she had some flea bites that she had some bad reactions to. well ive been looking her over since i gave her the capstar and she doesnt have fleas anymore. the scabs are healing and shes not scratching or biting anymore.

im assuming that the pale gums are some kind of flea anemia because she always has food and water and we put her on innova which is supposed to be excellent stuff. so i was wondering....how long does the pale-ness of the gums last after the fleas are gone.

shes still eating, urinating, drinking water and playing. still sucking on her nipples like always. i havent really noticed any changes in her actions. but i didnt know how long to leave it go before i take her to the vet or what the vet would even do since the fleas are gone.

the 27th is when i need to ut advantage on lucy again and my boyfriend just got a second job so i think were going to look at some more residual flea treatments for the cats also. we just dont have the money right now.

Some kitties always have a light pink tone to their gums. However, if they're a pale almost white pink, you're probably dealing with flea anemia. Feed her some foods that are high in iron to try and boost her a little bit.

well i found the culprit. i told my boyfriend "you shouldnt open up the windows, thats probably how theyre getting fleas" but he opened the windows anyways. then just a minutes ago i went over there because hera was sitting on the windowsill and i found 7 fleas! all alive. and consuela is the only one who doesnt sit on the windowsill and shes the only one who doesnt have bites and doesnt scratch. hera and zeke always sit on the windowsill. so i took that siphotrol stuff and sprayed it around the windowsill since it kills them on carpet and put the blinds down so they cant sit there.

her gums are pale at the base then real red by the teeth. what wouldnt be a food with high iron for her? we give her innova cat food already.

i think when i get advantage for lucy on the 27th im going to get 2 more capstars, one for zeke and one for hera. by that time it will be pretty cold so hopefully they wont be as rampant.

As far as the food, I was thinking some kind of people food...but, I can't think of anything at the moment...sorry.

But, if her teeth are red by the teeth, she's got some Periodontal Disease starting up. The gums won't be as red as your dog's gums.

Let me find some examples...hold on.

Does that help you any with the color?

it looks more like the second picture. i brush her teeth and dont even give her soft food anymore because i saw she was getting tarter.

also, is it unhealthy for your cat to have both baby and adult teeth? cause i just noticed that zeke's baby tooth for his eye teeth and his adult teeth came in directly behind them. thats the only tooth where the baby never fell out. its not red or inflamed. and hes eating fine. i tried to wiggle it and it doesnt even feel loose. but i really dont want to take him to the vet and have them put him under just to pull out a couple baby teeth. i didnt know if it was even a problem if he isnt showing any behavioral signs.

Brushing the teeth isn't going to cure Periodontal Disease. You can't get all the plaque and tartar off the teeth with simple brushing. Decidious teeth add to bad dental health. They crowd the mouth and lock in more bacteria and help plaque and tartar grow. Should he ever go under for another surgery, God forbid, have them pull those as well.

What is this spray you are talking about? I have not heard about it and if I missed your post about it, I am so sorry.

siphotrol is stuff you spray on your carpet that kills flea adults and any fleas that jump on the carpet for like 7 months. you spray it on the couch, chairs, anything with apholstery.

i called the vet and she said i should bring her in to see whats wrong because theres no way she should need at a dental at 7 months. with or without brushing. so when we get our money situation figured out (or if she starts changing behaviors) im gonna take her in to see if she has a parasite or something else. however, shes pretty fat lol so if she does have a parasite its a healthy one lol
