I've had my cat, Shadow for about eight months. She's never really eaten much wet food (barely one pouch a day), but lately she's not eating wet food at all. She licks the juice off of the top and then she's finished with it.
A couple of months ago my roommate brought a 4 week old kitten home. She had been abandoned outside of our apartment building and was on the verge of starving. I guess that gave her a complex because she eats all the time...follows us to the kitchen, tried to eat off of our plates, etc etc. The vet said she didn't have worms and that she'd eventually grow out of it. Because she's like this, we've started putting Shadow's food on our kitchen counter so that she can eat without the kitten trying to eat Shadow's food in addition to her own.
They get along perfectly well. Introducing them went smoothly, so I don't think it's a reaction/protest/whatever to the new kitten. Her behavior hasn't changed. She's still very active (believe it or not, she plays fetch!) and affectionate.
I've tried a different kind of food, I've even tried giving her cut-up chicken breast (boiled, no skin no bones), and she's not interested in any of it. All she'll eat is dry food, and even then it's very little.
Any ideas?
