Anyone have any idea what this is? She is a little itchy nothing too bad, and it is not getting worse. It's around her middle on one side more that the other in different sized spots. She is almost 12 and has never had any skin issues. Before I spend a fortune at the vet (again) I wanted to see if anyone had any clues. There should be a photo attached it I did it correctly.
Thanks!
Marianne

...can't really tell from the picture, all I can really see is maybe some flaky skin?

Aside from that, bulldogs are prone to skin issues, and I'm surprised she's done so well. Have you changed her diet, her shampoo, your laundry detergent, your perfume...anything like that that she may be having an allergic reaction to?

Nothing is new that I can think of. It seems to start out as a raised super dry patch and then the patch falls off with the hair attached leaving a bald spot like shown in the photo. She has been eating the same food for 12 years and I am trying to think of something, anything different.
We have been really fortunate with our bully, no skin issues and almost 12 and really healthy! :)
Thanks for the reply!

Ringworm seems to be taking over the world lately...try this, take some hair from an infected area and pull it. If it breaks in half, you may be looking at ringworm. If it comes out in one strand, it may be something totally different. You can also shine a blacklight over the area, if it glows green...definitely ringworm...however, not all ringworm glows green.

Or perhaps could be some simple reaction to something that's healing on it's own.

The hair comes out whole with dry skin attached, I just tried it. I don't have a black light. Although it is not getting worse as in huge bald spot and spreading, it really isn't getting better either. I hope it's not ringworm, she is sleeping on my bed right now!

My sister's name is Tiffany and we call her Tiffers sometimes. :)

:) That's awesome...Tiffers is a good name!

...it may just be a reaction to something in the past, something that went unnoticed for whatever reason and is now in the healing process. If the scabs are coming off with nothing underneat but healthy skin, I wouldn't worry about it unless she's excessively itching or if they're spreading...

Thanks Tiffers for the advice. I'm still trying to think of anything that she could be allergic too.

Dogs can develop allergies later in life to food, grass, some perfume you've always used. So, really...it could be ANYTHING. How many of those places does your kiddo have?

It could be so many things...

Sounds like maybe folliculitis or maybe a staph infection which both would need to be treated by antibiotics and special shampoos like malaseb. I'd get a vet to check it

Often the above condition is related to underlying allergies which are quite common in bull dogs

She has quite of few spots around her center, like 20! Some are really small, the one in the photo is a larger one.

PatchO'Pits.......thanks so much for your response. I will take her in to her vet and see what he says. I feel bad, she hates going there!!
