the bad news: but I don't have the $125.00 deposit yet and there is only one left  oh well I guess I will have to wait until next year to get my grey :( I think that will make it 6 years
I really need to stop with the bad news

When you get your grey it will be the best.
The wait will be worth it.

You could do what I did. To find Taz, I went to pet store after pet store. After looking at more than 15, I decided on one that knew what they were doing and would not sell to an inexperienced person. So after two days of talking to the owner of the pet shop, I had a baby blue and gold ordered. Now 4 years later, I have a very happy and well adjusted bird. Sometimes a way to lower the price that a retail business would charge, you need to find one where they are genuinely concerned about the welfare of the birds and not just a fast buck. There are not many, however there are a few. I only paid $700 for Taz, when they usually go for $1200. His cage was only another $800. So I paid less than $2000 for a handfed baby and a huge cage that takes up almost an entire room.

Sadly there are no good petstores where I live except our local petsmart. (don't gasp they really take great care of the birds)
And they have no greys. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Don't give up on your dreams. How about getting a little part-time job this summer?
Your grey baby may come sooner than you think.

I am going to try to try to get a job at a dog training place right by my house or at a vet office thats really close but I will have to wait until at least July 15 because I'm starting a play that will take up all of my time. I'm buying from a really good breeder Old world aviaries so I have to buy when they have Timnehs I will be paying $575 and the babys come dna sexed.

Good luck! I hope you find a job- and a timneh! :) Just a question: after you make the deposit, how do you pay for the rest? Will they let you pay a little bit each month or how do they do it?

I will pay as I go until the grey is weaned then if there is any left to pay I will pay it when I pick up my baby.
my mom thinks I can get a job when I'm in the play so maybe I will have the money before the last baby is gone :D

There are many solutions to the problem. Perhaps the seller can be induced to take payments before you pick up the bird. After some experience the seller may risk release of a bird to a person he/she recognizes will meet his/her responsibilities. A thought ...
Then there are rescue birds. Have you tried the local animal rescue organizations?
I wanted to comment upon the topic of price. In many human endeavors price plays a disproportionate role in the purchase. In buying a bird or other animal this is a very insignificant part of the care for an animal. If the purchase price is a problem, then what about the veterinarian costs for maintence? This is a large factor for small birds, as owners avoid spending for maintaining a low-cost bird. The cost of bird ownership is considerable; it is worth thinking about before securing a bird.
When I bought my Blue & Gold Macaw, I was convinced that I paid far too much for her. I made my purchase during the period when bird prices hit an abnormal high. In any case, imagine that you pay $1000 too much for a big bird like a macaw. Over the bird's lifetime that is about $16/year. A few trips to the vet's office will burn that up too.
In my case, my macaw selected me. She has been the best "buy" I have ever made. She has shown me the wonder of what a big, intelligent, bird is. There is no amount of money that could replace her and our relationship. She has taught me that we are not alone on an unfeeling planet, as some behavioral scientists believe.
Sorry to be so long winded. I hope my experiences are food for thought.
