I have the cutest little story to tell about my late dachshund Molly. Like all fur babies she really enjoyed her treats. Sometimes she would want a treat but did not want to eat it, at least not right away. This is what she would do, she would have the treat in her mouth go into the bedroom or any other room in the house. She would find a corner and make out like she was digging a whole lay the treat down and cover it. I find it hard to believe that she thought the treat was buried when in fact it was in plain site. After she would bury her treat she would lay in the doorway guarding the room and when one of the other babies would walk by the room, she block them from going into the room, even her hair would be standing up,that was so entertaining. Something else she did one time was I just had a package delivered I had order something from a pet store. Occassionally they would throw some sample treats in with the order, I was not aware that there was treats in the box, but Molly would stand on top of that box and would not let the other dogs even go near it. What was so funny is she was 13 pounds and she was acting that way to a 50 pound dog. Little dogs definitely have banny rooster syndrome. Molly passed on the 18 of this month of heart failure she was 11 years old and God only knows how much I miss her.

so sorry about your loss but as Dr. Dan Baker said in his book
"Every moment that's ever been, or ever will be, is gone the instant it's begun. So life is loss. And the secret of happiness is to learn to love the moment more than you mourn the loss." -What Happy People Know

what I mean to say by quoting that is that I'm glad you are remembering the good memories it will help you in your mourning. It's important to love those special moments and keep them in your heart, I'm sure that's what she wants you to do.

and thank you for sharing your story and making me smile hehe.
