Hi! Last December we adopted a 6 mo boxer. Within a few days he came down with parvo. I was able to save him with help from my vet. I am considering a new sheltie puppy who is 8 weeks old. Her vacinations have started. I would appreciate any advice. I have been reading all day different sites about how long it remains in the house and especially how many different time frames for outside contamination. Thanks, Karen

...make sure the puppy has had all three parvo boosts before bringing it into your house. Is she coming from a breeder or a shelter?

She will be coming from a breeder.

...the only advice I can offer is that be sure to give a minimum of three Parvo boosts before allowing her to come home. Will your breeder be willing to keep her until then? Parvo can live years and years in your yard and house. There's no way to treat Parvo, you can only treat symptomatically and let the virus run it's course. I'm sure you've found that doing so is expensive. When the puppy's health and your pocketbook are on the line, it's best to be safe than sorry.
